If Afghanistan were a human being, it would be a woman.

She would be Rudaba, the legendary maiden whose devotion ended in tragedy on the barren plains. She would be Farkhunda, brutally martyred by a mob in the heart of her own city. She would be the millions of young girls across the country—perhaps the most hopeful yet heartbroken souls on earth. She would be Nouriya, forced to disguise herself as a man overnight simply to survive. She would be Rabia, composing verse and defying darkness to articulate the essence of womanhood. She would be Bibi Aisha, left mutilated in an effort to silence her breath. She would be the Afghan woman who conceals an ocean of sorrow behind a quiet, resolute smile.

Afghanistan would be the mother who pours her entire soul into her children, or the helpless mother forced to witness her sons and daughters perish one by one. She would personify a patience tested beyond human limits.

Yet this tragedy is not her final chapter. One day, this courage will break through the shadows into light. From the ashes of her enduring sorrow, she will rise once more—a phoenix soaring across the sky.
